About the Project
SBM (Spot Billing Management) is a full-stack SaaS platform built to modernize water billing operations for municipalities, utility providers, and urban local bodies. The system replaces manual, paper-based billing workflows with a connected ecosystem of a web admin dashboard, a field agent mobile app, and a robust backend API.
Solution
The platform enables real-time meter reading, instant bill generation, payment tracking, and complaint resolution at scale, giving administrators, field agents, and consumers a fast, connected, and transparent billing experience across web and mobile.
The Challenge
Municipal water billing, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, has historically been managed through legacy, paper-based processes prone to delay and error.

Feature Concepts
Smart Tariff Engine — slab-based rates, per-capita charges, fixed service charges, configurable late fees, and consumer-type multipliers.
Bulk Operations Engine — Excel-based consumer import and payment upload with downloadable templates for guided data entry.
Multi-Tenant SaaS Architecture — a single deployment manages multiple utility projects with full data isolation via project-level scoping.
Role-Based Access Control — configurable read/write/delete permissions per module and role, scoped per project.
Thermal Printer Integration — Bluetooth-connected mobile printing of formatted bill receipts directly on-site.
Key Outcomes & Results
Operational Impact — billing cycles reduced from days to minutes, with field agents generating and printing bills on-site.
Technical Achievements — a complete database model covering the utility billing domain, 40+ REST API endpoints across 13 route groups, and 19+ admin dashboard pages covering every operational workflow.
Scalability — the multi-tenant SaaS architecture lets a new utility client onboard in four steps with no code changes or new deployments, while one backend serves both the web dashboard and mobile app.
